The Himalayan Research Expeditions (HRE) is a government authorized trekking company established specifically to provide exclusive trekking and research services to researchers, naturalists, and explorers from all over the world. In addition to clean and healthy trekking services, we also assist clients with the acquisition of all research, trekking, climbing, and related permits.

As a responsible company we emphasize ecotourism-oriented and environmentally-conscious operation. Our company provides all necessary cooking stoves, kerosene, clothing, tents, and sleeping bags to porters so that they have little need for wood fires. We remove accumulated garbage from all trekking regions and base camps in which we visit. Approximately 100 Kg of unburnable garbage is brought back from every trek and deposited in the unburnable garbage deposit centre running by Nepal Mountain Association (NMA).

By providing us with the opportunity to arrange your trekking, research, and/or climbing services you make a direct contribution to reducing pollution and creating greener environments in the Himalaya. Additionally, 5 per cent of all company profits are deposited in a special fund designed to protect and restore fragile mountain ecosystems that have been heavily impacted in recent decades by unregulated adventure tourism.
